The ZOZ is a single computer system, distributed throughout the entire galaxy. It is not a collection of many small computers connected by a network -- it is a single galactic computer. Its components are called "ZOZ Objects". There are zillions of ZOZ Objects, distributed throughout the galaxy, and all linked by a communications channel called "The ZOZ data stream", something like a radio wave running throughout the entire galaxy. What distinguishes a "ZOZ object" from an ordinary object is the existence of a ZOZ "Link" attached to the object. The ZOZ Link is a tiny electronic circuit or chip which sits in or on an object and connects it to the ZOZ data stream. Anything which can receive, generate, relay, or use data (ie, numbers) can be attached to a ZOZ Link and thereby become a ZOZ object. A rock cannot become a ZOZ object. But a rock with a motion sensor inside it might be.
